How to Add a Website to Your Android Home Screen

I've been working in technology for over 20 years in a wide range of tech jobs from Tech Support to Software Testing. I started this site as a technical guide for myself and it has grown into what I hope is a useful reference for all. Of course, there is no guarantee that the specific article will exist when trying to access it later.

First, open the modern Internet Explorer browser — that’s what you’re probably using on a tablet, anyway, as it offers the most touch-optimized experience. Navigate to the website you want to pin, pull up the app bar — for example, by right-clicking or swiping up from the bottom of your screen — and tap the star icon.

Use the Bookmarks feature to bookmark Tweets you’d like to refer to later. From a Tweet, tap or click on the share icon and select Add Tweet to Bookmarks. To view your saved Tweets, tap or click onBookmarks from your profile icon menu or the left nav. To remove a saved bookmark, tap the share icon from the Tweet within your bookmark timeline and select Remove Tweet from bookmarks. Additionally, you can tap the more icon at the top of your bookmark timeline to remove all of your bookmarks at once.

Under that is the icon which would appear on my Android’s home page. If I press and hold down on that, it will then switch to my home screen and the icon will be at my finger, allowing me to place it any specific place I want. Whereas if you didn’t touch and hold the icon and instead pressed Add, it would randomly try to place it somewhere. I use the “add to home screen” option for site links on a regular basis.

But there is an added benefit because It saves the title of the article which you can then search and see if it still exists. This means that the icon won’t just be the website’s logo but also shows a little Chrome icon in the bottom right corner. Admittedly, it isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing setup. Still, if you don’t care about that, you can add as many shortcuts to your Home Screen as you would like. Touch and hold the app icon.
